Episode 50: What Kids Teach Us About Failure

With: Deryl Sweeney

Topic: What Kids Teach Us About Failure

I talk about failure… a lot.

We’ve all been in a room where someone holding a microphone tells you to look to your left and then to your right. From there they throw out some crazy stat about how many people in the room will or won’t do something. It’s all meant to inspire or excite or terrify us.

If I was the guy holding the microphone talking about failure, the stat would be 100%. Failure is something that every single one of us has experienced, and something we’ll experience again.

So then why are we paralyzed by the fear of failing? Why does it keep us stuck and prevent us from chasing the big dream or believing that we can have it all?

I believe failure is a pivotal part of our journey. Check out the video as I remind us how we approached failure as kids, and how revisiting that approach may help us get everything we truly want.
